Many people nowadays resort to anti aging skin creams and treatments in order to fight the signs of aging. These creams promise to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, lighten age spots, and improve overall skin health.

Other anti aging skin products can promise to do so in only 7 days, while other brands could take up to 2 weeks and longer. Aging is a natural process, and there are many factors that can affect the whole ageing process.

Although 30 percent of ageing is affected by genetics, it could hasten with exposure to everyday harmful toxins, too much sunlight and smoke, and a poor diet or lifestyle.

This is where anti aging skin creams and products enter the scenario. Now more than ever, physical appearance is given more weight.

With many magazines and billboards of airbrushed models, who can blame women when they want to look as wrinkle-free as the lady in the magazine?

That’s why they do their best in order to maintain their youth, or to reverse the signs of aging through using anti aging skin products.

But are anti aging skin creams and products really effective? Or does it seem just so with all the marketing and hype behind it?

The ingredients in anti aging skin products are known to have proven effects on the improvement of one’s skin. Common ingredients found in several of these products include Vitamin A, Vitamin C, AHAs or Alpha-hydroxy acids, and retinoids.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is known to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, due to its mild inflammatory effect that can “puff up” the skin in order to make the wrinkles appear less deep.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C has a lightening effect that can lighten dark age spots. Also, it is known to boost circulation as well as collagen production, which makes it a common ingredient in anti agin skin products.

Alpha-hydroxy acids, also called fruit acids, helps speed up the removal of dead skin cells.

This is another ingredient common in most anti aging skin creams and products. These are chemicals that hasten the production of new skin cells, making it more compact and thick.

In just a month or two of use, skin will appear smoother, and wrinkles will be diminished. But in sixth month’s use, you would have achieved the optimum effect, so don’t expect any further improvement.

Discontinuing use will make your skin go back into its previous state. With these findings, anti aging skin creams with these ingredients should work up to some extent.

However, most creams only contain minimal amounts of these ingredients, to the point that it does not really bring any significant effect to your skin.

What you can do then to ensure anti aging skin is to supplement the use of these creams with your own efforts to change bad habits and lifestyle.

Stay away from too much sun or smoke exposure, have a balanced diet with all the necessary nutrients and vitamins, and always get your beauty sleep.
